Spider Gags

When we invented the spider gag around 1998, it was to address something that seemed to be the most useless thing in BDSM accessories - the O ring gag.

The O ring gag was so stupid, just a ring with a leather strap on each side, it didn't hold anyone's mouth open as the ring always went horizontal. Plus they were never big enough to allow anything to pass through.

We wanted to solve that problem, so we started out with a horse bit, with a ring in it. We thought this would be sufficient to keep the ring vertical, but it wasn't.

A bit dejected by the lack of success the thought of welding hooks onto the side of the ring, making the spider gag look, came to us. Thus was born the absolute first spider gag, our Second Generation Gag.

So called because we saw this as the second generation of the O ring gag that had been around forever. Except ours actually worked.

When we welded up the first ring, it looked so cool it was tried on immediately, resulting in a burned mouth and quite a bit of laughing.

This version of the spider gag sold incredibly well. The response was immediate and clearly we had fulfilled a long standing yet unmet desire out there.

Interestingly, the majority of sales were to women. Through a lot of communication, it was found that the spider gag had solved an issue in the BDSM dynamic - giving a blow job but not really feeling on the bottom due to the act being too proactive. To the mind of a lot of our customers, they bought the gag so as to feel less in charge, less proactive when giving a BJ.

The whole thing was really fascinating and we probably had more customer input on our spider gags than any other item we sell.

Eventually a customer called us. She loved the Second Generation version of the spider gag, but the problem for her was the side bars on the horse bit were grinding on her cheek bones and was there a way to make a more simple design.

With this we came up with the Mini Gag version of the spider gag. We wanted to retain some of the features that worked so well with the Second Generation version, so the ring still has some separation from the leather strap to avoid it getting soiled. We feel this makes our spider gags a lot more durable and frankly less gross than the competitors that copied it later on.

In the past quarter century we have made thousands of these gags. Each one of them meticulously TIG welded of stainless steel in a really delicate process to achieve the standards we want. Its one of the products we are most proud of.
